It’s only natural that photographers are attracted to birding and that birders are attracted to photography. Photographing birds is rewarding, but presents special challenges.
The Space Coast Birding and Wildlife Festival is offering classes of interest to birding and wildlife photographers. See if there’s something here that interests you:
Photography Field Workshop by Robert Amoruso.
Bird Photography by Milton Heiberg. Heiberg has several offerings including a field workshop at sunrise and plenty of “how-to” instruction.
How to Compose & Create a Better Wildlife Photograph. Kevin Karlson offers an introductory class and a field workshop.
Reinier Munguia offers several classes/presentations: Nature Photography, Photoshop for Nature Photographers, Bird Photography 101, and a Bird Photography Field Workshop.
Joel Rosenthal is offering a class titled “Beginning Photography: an introduction to the practical aspects of bird and wildlife photography, from getting started to printing and sharing your images.”
Joanne Williams presents “Looking Out my Backdoor,” which takes you on a nature and wildlife journey through the Florida Everglades and Heartland USA.
Ben Lizdas of Eagle Optics presents a free “Introduction to Birding Optics” class where you’ll learn what to consider when buying binoculars or a spotting scope for birding.
Jeff Bouton of Leica Sports Optics presents a free “Selecting Optics for Birding” class that helps you understand manufacturers specifications on binoculars and spotting scopes to help you buy the right product for your needs.
Tom Dunkerton of Nikon presents a free class on Digiscoping titled “Extending Your Reach.” Learn how to take photographs through a spotting scope with your digital camera (like the scrub jay photo at the top of this article).
Digiscoping Field Trip with Clay Taylor of Swarovski Optik. Hands-on how-to for newbies and current digiscopers. Bring your gear.
Tom Dunkerton of Nikon presents “Digiscoping: It’s a Beautiful Thing.” An in-depth look at the possibilities of digiscoped photography.
Clay Taylor of Swarovski Optik presents a class on Digiscoping with Digital SLR Cameras.
Ben Lizdas of Eagle Optics presents an “Introduction to Digiscoping.” Covers the basics of equipment and cost-performance benefits, field techniques and image processing.
With all those classes there ought to be something that appeals to any nature photographer.
FTC Disclosure of Material Connections: I receive compensation from the Space Coast Birding & Wildlife Festival for writing about the 2010 Festival.
