Celebrate the Ocean’s Many Treasures at the Barrier Island Center Sea Glass and Ocean Gems Symposium, February 20th, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. 2016

MELBOURNE BEACH, Fla. –
  You are invited to the Barrier Island Center’s second Sea Glass and Ocean Gems Symposium on Saturday, February 20th, 2016 from 10 am to 4 pm. The symposium will be free to the public and include beach combing talks all day, guided beach walks, sharing table, craft demos, educational displays, kids’ crafts table, beach-themed crafters, art raffle to benefit Sea Turtle Conservancy, a judged sea glass competition, live music, food trucks, and more!
Of special note our keynote speaker, best-selling author Richard LaMotte, will remain on site after his talk at 11 a.m. about his new book The Lure of Sea Glass. Mr. LaMotte will be available throughout the day to help identify the historical origin of visitors’ found sea glass as well as for signing.

The Brevard County Environmentally Endangered Lands Program’s Barrier Island Center is centrally located in heart of the Archie Carr Refuge in South Melbourne Beach at 8385 South Highway A1A. The Barrier Island Center operates in collaboration with the Sea Turtle Conservancy to provide hands-on educational experiences for visitors to the Refuge through interactive exhibits, nature films, special programs and a 1-mile long “dune-to-lagoon” nature trail. Admission is free to the education center which is open to the public Tuesday through Sunday from 9 – 5.
