Great Florida Beachwalk – Mile #267 – Fort Desoto Park

Doing my part to promote Florida's clean beaches. Fort Desoto's North Beach, Mile #267 on the Great Florida Beachwalk.

The Great Florida Beachwalk is a campaign to make people aware that Florida’s beaches are NOT covered in oil. They are clean and healthy.

The idea was to assign each mile of Florida’s 825 miles of sandy beaches to a volunteer, who would show up Saturday morning, walk the mile of beach, take a photo and upload it to the VISITFLORIDA website.

Overall it seems to have worked out very well, although there seems to be a few mix-ups on the website when it comes to matching photos to their correct locations on the map.  I’m sure the VISITFLORIDA employees are working feverishly to get all the bugs worked out and handle all the complaints. Our photo has finally appeared on the map:

Here are more photos we took at Fort Desoto Park’s mile #267:

shells on the beach after a strong cold front

Thousands of shells littered the beach this morning.

Suzy doing her part for the cause. She worked so hard holding the sign, so I took her to one of our favorite Thai restaurants for lunch.

Life is Better at the Beach!

We had our choice of signs, or we could make our own. I chose this one because this is the way I always autograph my books.
