Jug Creek Cottages–Pine Island, Florida

A few months ago I was on Pine Island for a couple of days to shoot a video for VISIT FLORIDA about the trip out to Cayo Costa Island State Park and Cabbage Key aboard the Tropic Star.

While there I stayed at the Jug Creek Cottages, which is a group of Old-Florida-style fishing cottages in Bokeelia on the north end of Pine Island. If you don’t know where that is, you’re not alone. It’s near Cape Coral, right on Charlotte Harbor. These cottages are owned by the state of Florida but are managed by the folks at Tropic Star Cruises. I shot a few minutes of video so you can see what the cottages are like. They are quite inexpensive and are mainly used by sports-fishermen and their families.

I enjoyed my stay there. When you watch the video, if you listen carefully you can hear the ospreys calling, especially when I go into the back bedroom and walk out back. There are so many ospreys (fish hawks) everywhere!

Here’s the video I did with VISIT FLORIDA:
