A Quiet Walk Among Gumbo Limbos

A Quiet Walk Among Calusa Indian Middens and Gumbo Limbo Trees from David McRee on Vimeo.

For a long time I’ve been driving past Randell Research Center on Pine Island, FL on my way to other places. When the weather and the moon conspired to ruin my plans for a trip to Cayo Costa, I finally stopped at Randell and took a walk around. I shot some video of parts of my walk. The shell middens (shell refuse left by the Calusa Indians), and the beautiful Gumbo Limbo trees are wonderful. The wind was strong, so there is some wind noise on the audio (might want to lower your speakers a bit).  This is a great place for birding. If you come during the warm months, bring insect repellent; it can get buggy.
