Did you know that Daytona Beach is considered “the Gull Mecca of East Central Florida?”  No? Neither did I. But you can come and find out what gull watching is all about during the Beach Gull Watch event which is part of the North American Gull Conference 2010.

When: January 26, 3 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Where: Daytona Beach Shores Resort

Other particulars: Limited to 100 seats, advance registration required, $60 per person.

Gull experts will be on hand to work with groups of participants.  Come and spend the afternoon watching and learning about gulls on Daytona Beach from experts Bruce Mactavish, Martin Reid, Alvaro Jaramillo, Michael O’Brien, Paul Lehman, and Clay Taylor.

Clay Taylor will explain his latest digiscoping techniques.

At 6 p.m. you’ll head up to the Atlantic Room of the Daytona Beach Shores Resort where there will be a cash bar. Dinner is served at 7 p.m.

The Keynote Speaker for the evening is Bruce MacTavish who will present “A Birders Introduction to Gull Watching: Yesterday and Today.”
