Since it's not turtle nesting season, a sand turtle is about the only kind of turtle you'll find on the beach in February.
Here’s another cell phone photo update from lifeguard Curtis Mcfee from Anna Maria Island. His sister has sculpted a sea turtle in the beach sand. Note the turtle “shell.”
Sand sculpting is quite an art form and attracts lots of talented people. A year or so ago I filmed a short sandsculpting video with VISITFLORIDA down in Ft. Myers Beach at the Sandsculpting Championship Festival. If that sort of thing interests you, check it out.
