Great Service at Sandy Hook Fish and Rib House

I've been driving right by the Sandy Hook Fish and Rib House for well over 10 years. I finally decided to stop and eat.

It’s amazing what giving really great service can do for a business. Customer loyalty is the number one benefit.

After a long hot day on Cabbage Key and Cayo Costa Island State Park, I was starving. First I stopped at the Lazy Flamingo (one of my favorite restaurants in Bokeelia), but there was a line and I needed food NOW!

So I drove to Matlacha (say it Matt-la-shay) to the Sandy Hook Fish and Rib House. The sign on the door said “hours 4 to 9 p.m.” Darn! It was 9:04 p.m.

I walked in anyway and asked if I was too late to be served. “Technically we are closed,” said the hostess, “but come on in and we’ll get your order in right away.” I was so happy to hear that.

I was concerned about ordering something that required significant preparation, but the hostess said “just relax, take your time, and order anything on the menu you want, I’m going to be here a long time.”

So I ordered a great fish dinner. While I was waiting, the server brought out a small loaf of hot dark bread with butter. I was so hungry I could’ve eaten the skin off a bear!

Now I have two favorite restaurants in the Pine Island area, Sandy Hook and Lazy Flamingo. Sandy Hook now has another loyal customer kicking himself for waiting so long to give them a try.

And to the hostess who made time for me at the end of a long day and treated me like family–thank you for making my day!
