Have You Registered for the Space Coast Birding & Wildlife Festival? I have!

A little blue heron takes a moment to scratch in Sebastian Inlet State Park. Thanks to Jim Angy I got some great shots of herons and wood storks. He knows exactly where to go to get the great shots.

I finally got around to sifting through the beautiful program catalog for the 13th Annual Space Coast Birding & Wildlife Festival and North American Gull Conference 2010. There are so many fabulous classes and field trips that it’s really tough to decide which ones to take. There were quite a few that I’d have loved to sign up for but they conflicted with classes I really didn’t want to miss. That will leave something for next year.

Here are the field trips and classes I’ve signed up for:

Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010

  • Taking the Fear out of Identifying Gulls
  • Gull ID Field Workshop at the Brevard County Landfill
  • Warbler Identification
  • Keynote with Alvaro Jaramillo

Thursday, Jan 28

  • Field trip to South Lake Conservation Area
  • Raptor Project
  • Keynote with Reinier Munguia

Friday, Jan 29

  • Field Trip to Blue Heron Wetlands and Canaveral Marshes Conservation Area
  • Weather & Bird Migration Class
  • Raptors of Florida Part I Class
  • Keynote with Louise Zemaitis

Saturday, Jan 30

  • Birding By Ear & Habitat – Field Trip
  • The Truth About Gulls Class
  • Raptors of Florida Part II Class
  • Keynote with David Allen Sibley

Sunday, Jan 31

  • Bird ID Forum
  • Ken Kaufman afternoon Keynote presentation
  • Large Gull Workshop

Note: The North American Gull Conference 2010 is part of the Space Coast Birding and Wildlife Festival in January 2010. They are both held at the same location–Brevard Community College and nearby birding locations.

Some of the more popular classes are already starting to fill up, so go to the Space Coast Birding Festival web site and register as soon as you can.
