I’ve been getting lots of reports and photos of blue buttons this summer. Most are from either the northern gulf coast, or from the central and northeast Atlantic coast of the state. Several people have commented that they’ve been coming to Florida beaches for decades and have never seen blue buttons. Many are wondering whether there is some natural phenomenon occurring that is causing so many sightings this year.
I don’t have an answer for that.
Ashley sent me these great photos of blue buttons she encountered in Gulf Shores, Alabama, which is just across the Florida line, west of the Pensacola area in the panhandle.
