I took a walk on Upham Beach this evening in hopes of seeing a dramatic sunset. The sky turned out to be cloudier than I expected as the season’s first strong cold front swept through the state.

The increasing westerly winds were beginning to blow turtle grass onto the beach. The water has cooled off a bit, but I expect it will get quite a bit cooler over the next few days as night time temperatures dip into the 40's and 50's across the state.

Far out in the Gulf a funnel cloud dropped out of a menacing line of dark and ragged cumulus clouds.
Although it was nearly dark, I managed to capture this image of a funnel cloud forming out over the Gulf. It never managed to drop down low enough to form a water spout.
I’m looking forward to participating in The Great Florida Beachwalk this Saturday morning. The weather should be clear, with a northeast wind and morning temperatures starting out in the upper 50’s, warming to around 70.
