Florida Stingray Caught on Video

I was on Pine Island this past weekend to shoot a video for VISIT FLORIDA and happened to be in the perfect spot to get some video of a stingray. I arrived the day before the video shoot and took an evening walk along the north end of Pine Island, in a little village called Bokeelia.

Bokeelia is right on Charlotte Harbor. I walked out on the dock in front of Captain Con’s Restaurant and saw that every few minutes a stingray would swim under the dock from west to east.

So I positioned myself accordingly and caught two of these Atlantic stingrays on video. They are very graceful swimmers as they flutter their wings and glide over the sandy bottom and the sea grasses.

Just don’t step on them.
