The internet is abuzz today with the story of the “dream job” being offered for some lucky person on Australia’s Hamilton Island, a resort island destination near the Great Barrier Reef. (Note: photo is from Tourism Queensland)
The job is reported to pay slightly over $100,000 US for 6 months of employment to whoever is hired. Job duties include exploring the island and blogging about it, plus doing a few other “minor tasks.”
Apply at http://www.islandreefjob.com/, but don’t expect to be able to access that page for a while. I’m sure their server is totally overloaded with visitors.
Obviously this is someone’s very good idea of a public relations campaign. Not only is hiring a blogger to connect with your market a great idea, but paying him/her an exhorbitant salary and advertising it worldwide is positively brilliant.
Everyone in the world with access to a television, newspaper, magazine, or the internet now knows about Hamilton Island and they haven’t even written a single blog post yet!
Had you ever heard of Hamilton Island before? Well, millions know about it now.
Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.
