Lisa W. loves the beach and occasionally sends me photos from her vacations. Sometimes I think she spends more time at the beach than I do, even though she lives in another state. One of the most wonderful times to be on the beach is right after a rain. Given the lenghth of the shadows, this appears to be an early morning rainbow. Not a bad way to wake up.

Perico Bay is a place most people will never see. You’ll zoom right by it on Manatee Avenue on the way to the beach without ever knowing it is there. This sheltered bay is hidden behing tall mangroves. There has been some development near the bay, but not as much as I’d feared, as you can see. Lisa sends this sunset photo, which must have been taken from one of the condos at the Perico Bay Club. The mangroves have been trimmed to allow a view of the water.
