Ritch Grissom Memorial Wetlands at Viera attracts birders from far and wide. If you’d like to visit, it will be the location of a field trip during the Space Coast Birding and Wildlife Festival coming up in January 2010.

When: Jan 27, 29, 30, 31; 6 a.m. till noon.

Advance registration required. To register visit the Space Coast Birding and Wildlife Festival web site.

Even though I’ve never been to Viera Wetlands, I feel like it is an old friend because my friend Marge Bell has been writing about it on her blog, Space Coast Eco. She has a great blog post that tells you all you need to know to get to Viera, what to expect when you get there, and what to bring.

If you’d like to see some photos of Viera, Charlie Corbeil’s photography captures the essence of the place.

Recently a Masked Duck was sighted at Viera and has created much ado among birders coming from far and wide to have a look. Maybe it will hang around for the birding festival?

FTC Disclosure of Material Connections: I receive compensation from the Space Coast Birding & Wildlife Festival for writing about the 2010 Festival.
