Surfing Hurricane Ida on Florida’s Gulf Coast

Today I spent a couple of hours photographing the surfers in the Gulf of Mexico enjoying a southerly swell from Hurricane Ida. This is a classic break– steep shifty peaks and a short wall breaking in shallow water. I’m not going to name the break, but if you’ve ever surfed it, you’ll recognize it. Enjoy. Well once again Florida is scoring some great surf conditions with some really fun looking chest high waves and we are looking at Victory at Sea here on South Padre Island. 10-15 feet and blown out….

Hopefully today it will all come together!
