What’s it like for thousands of bird nature lovers to gather in one town in Florida for a week and immerse themselves in what they love? I’ve found a few people blogging about their Space Coast Birding Festival experiences:
Lee, of Lee’s Birdwatching Adventures Plus, shares her experience at the 2009 Space Coast Birding and Wildlife Festival on her blog, day by day: Day Two, Day Three, Day Four, and Day Five.
Photographer Jay Paredes shares a beautiful photo of a Florida scrub jay he took at the 2008 Festival. Brevard county has some excellent scrub jay habitat and an active conservation program that protects these friendly birds.
Susan Halpin, who gave two presentations on purple martins at last year’s Festival gives her impressions of the Space Coast Birding Festival.
Mike Freiberg takes us looking for birds on a windy day at the 2009 Space Coast Birding Festival.
And, I’ve saved perhaps the best for last, Birdchick Sharon Steitler writes about her always interesting experiences at last years festival where she gave several presentations and assisted in many of the field trips.
Reading the new Space Coast Birding & Wildlife Festival program catalog is helping to re-ignite my love of birds that began as a child and somehow got lost in the grind of making a living. I missed last years event due to family duties, but this year I’ll be there for sure.
FTC Disclosure of material connections: I receive compensation from the Festival for writing about the Space Coast Birding and Wildlife Festival.
