A great day of snorkeling at Fort Jefferson, Dry Tortugas National Park.

Today I rode the Yankee Freedom high speed ferry from Key West to the Dry Tortugas. Got lots of photos, some unexpectedly good underwater video (which I’ll post later next week), and a sunburn on top of my head.

Note to self: after getting a very short haircut, use sunblock on the head, or wear a head covering when in the water. There I was feeling all good about myself for slathering on thick gobs of SPF 85; then I got back to my Key West inn and turned a hot shower on my head and OUCH!

There’s a first time for everything.

Anyway, look forward to some great photos and videos of snorkeling (including a barracuda and a beautiful parrotfish captured on video. Some coral and sea fans too).

I’m making the rounds of the best beaches in the Keys, so I’ll be reporting on those as well.

It’s been a fun and productive trip.
