I was fortunate enough to spend one month on the Gulf Coast near Venice and Nokomis this summer (08). I also noticed more trash than usual. My son and I always carried our own trash off of the beach and on multiple occasions carried as much of other people's trash as we could hold off of the beach, too. I'm not sure who is to blame but we all need to be watchful of our precious sealife be keeping trash out of the water. Sea turtles often mistake plastic bags for jellyfish. When a turtle has a belly full of plastic it won't eat because it feels full. Then is starves.
